Collection: Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are small, flying insects known for their itchy bites and role in spreading diseases. They thrive in warm, humid environments and breed in standing water such as ponds, drains, and water containers. Female mosquitoes require a blood meal to lay eggs, while males primarily feed on nectar.

Common species found in Malta include the Culex, Aedes, and Anopheles mosquitoes. Some species are active at night, while others, like the Aedes mosquito, are aggressive daytime biters.

Mosquito activity increases during warmer months, and their bites can cause redness, swelling, and irritation. In some cases, they can transmit diseases such as West Nile Virus and Dengue Fever in regions where these viruses are present.
